Cool article about a wind-powered, transatlantic cargo ship now taking passengers. I love the idea of a return to wind-powered sailing as an option for the global commute. A comfortable, lo-fi way to travel, with a carbon footprint 100x smaller than catching a plane. And apparently, you can bring unlimited luggage.

Form Energy, the nascent iron-air battery manufacturer, looks like a company to follow. In August they announced ground-breaking at their first Fe-air installation (a 1.5 MW project) in Cambridge, Minnesota

*New* They're adding an iron-air battery to the solar installation to provide power when there's no sun.
PV arrays will produce up to 710 MW, whereas the first Fe-air batteries will be 10 MW. Not the scale needed, but Form Energy just started manufacturing, so this is a pilot of sorts.

How IS nuclear power now a “clean” energy? Did I miss when they worked out not to bury irradiated waste or dump it deep in the ocean? Is it no longer deadly-radioactive for quarter of a million years?
Every time I hear someone on the radio speak rapturously about nuclear power stations being quicker and more efficient, I just wince and shout at the radio “What about the waste?”
