Hmm, looks like they stopped their descent pretty early, before Cedarhurst. Now they're in traffic management purgatory and/or sorting out their flap issue out over Levittown. Busy, busy, busy airspace. #aviation

"F-22 Pilot Swaps in for Guardian at International Space Station" by Air & Space Forces Magazine - Article notes that #NASA #Crew10 pilot Nichole Ayers (Major USAF) arrives at ISS as #Crew9 commander Nick Hague (Colonel USSF) prepares to return to Earth. Each is a member of a crew rotation of 4, with other US military members. The article links these two due to focus on Air Force & Space Force, excluding Army & Navy on the crews. https://www.airandspaceforces.com/f-22-pilot-guardian-international-space-station/ #space #military #aviation #avgeek
Are you too experiencing symptoms such as Martin Mars nostalgia because USSOCOM didn't follow through with the MC-130J floatplane concept? This ATR 72 conversion idea may help you: https://positive-aviation.com/.
And yes, it's a waterbomber!

5 years ago on March 14-15, 2020, I took what turned out to be the last in-person FIRC (Flight Instructor Renewal Course) offered by AOPA Air Safety Institute (ASI). This one was in Santa Clara CA but others locations also had them that weekend. The next day, March 16, 2020 all 9 Bay Area counties went into COVID lockdown to prevent St Patrick's Day parties from becoming superspreader events. AOPA ASI did not resume in-person instruction for FIRCs after the pandemic. #aviation #pilot #avgeek
@ai6yr I think these days it would be hell to be a cross-country driver. There is always extreme WX somewhere. I know if I was still driving, with what I know about #aviation WX, I'd be watching it all. But also, those guys are pushed harder and harder to get the trailer empty so they can turn another load ASAP.
I'd just like to make sure my tongue-in-cheek comment hasn't been misunderstood. If 3% of American planes crashed or caught fire every week, that wouldn't be extremely safe — it would be shockingly bad.
I agree that all Trump's and Musk's cuts will make American #aviation more dangerous. For environmental reasons, I think people should fly much less often than they do, but turning flights into a game of Russian roulette isn't the way to achieve it.
"An easyJet pilot has been suspended after an Airbus A320 carrying up to 190 passengers descended dangerously close to a mountain while approaching Egypt’s Red Sea resort town of Hurghada.... According to reports, the jet came within just 770 feet of a mountain peak, flying at 3,100 feet over the range—far lower than the usual 6,000-foot altitude for that approach."

In all seriousness, difficult to say from daily media reports whether there has been a sudden increase in aviation incidents or whether we are all just suddenly focused on them. A few sources should anyone want to analyze the data:
