Google hijacks restaurant booking link, replaces it Google Assistant, leading to no reservation bookings via Google - how horrible https://www.seroundtable.com/google-hijacks-restaurants-booking-system-39070.html via @ClaudiaTomina
Be aware:
Google Assistant recently turned itself on without my express consent. Previously this was proactively turned off.
Probably from a recent system update.
This is odd. Over the last few days my Android phone has occasionally randomly spoken out loud "I'm sorry, I don't understand."
I know that's Google Assistant but here's the thing: I have all the Assistant settings turned off, and even if I didn't it's happened when there is absolutely no possibility of it mis-hearing some other sound. Such as just now when I'm completely alone in the house with no TV/radio/etc playing. Or even at 2:30am when I'm fast asleep.
I know the answer is almost certainly "sorry, but a ghost lives in your phone now" but it's still weird. And it's quite annoying to be woken up at 2:30am by any kind of ghost.
During a particularly bad carpool traffic day I tried to use #GoogleAssistant via #AndroidAuto to text my wife: "Ok Google" <beep>'"Text [name]"<what's the message!> "Jesus, the traffic"<I got 'the traffic', send it?>
I tried again, same result.
Yes, boys and girls, someone at #Google decided they need to censor the word "Jesus" from texts.
