Once I did get on the charger it took half an hour, as I expected. Just under 50 kWh of power used and $36.42 paid and now the car is back up to 87% charge ready for the onwards drive to Brisbane tomorrow.
We reached our overnight stop at Taree Country Motel with 33% battery charge remaining. With a trip distance of 304 km that implies an average energy consumption so far of 18.2 kWh / 100 km, which isn't too bad for highway driving with a fair bit of rain.
Local recharging options are more limited than they should be because our BYD Seal has not yet received the fix for compatibility with V3 and V4 Tesla Superchargers. That leaves the pair of Evie 350 kW chargers at the Taree South services just down the road, one of which is broken. With just one working charger here I'll probably go charge the car tonight, rather than gamble on the charger being available in the morning. It should only take about half an hour.
Road trip time! Over the next 10 days we're going to drive from Sydney to Brisbane, from Brisbane to Coonabarabran, and from Coonabarabran back to Sydney. This is something of a stress test for electric car touring. If we can do all this, in the school holidays, with no major issues then I'll have no concerns about driving anywhere in south east Australia.
Today we are only.going as far as Taree, which I'm pretty relaxed about as I know from experience that we've got enough range to comfortably make it that far without recharging on the way.
