this is a hole that an ancient person or several people made. it was created approx 3000 yrs ago, possibly by nabataeans:

they were people of commerce and traveled with goods across the desert. this nearly impossible feat they achieved by creating these "water bottles" inside the rock itself. look - this hole has a lid! and the paths leading to it allow the water to accumulate in the short rainy season.
